News Events Are Now Live in Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation®
Your company’s valuation changed. But do you know what happened around the business when it did? A number on a chart tells you what changed. It doesn’t tell you why.
Maybe you closed a major customer. Maybe a competitor just raised a Series B. Maybe you launched into a new market last month and forgot to connect the dots. Right now, that context lives in your inbox, your CRM, or your memory, anywhere but next to the valuation itself.
Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation® now shows News Events directly on your valuation timeline. Company news, competitor developments, and your own custom milestones appear alongside valuation movements, helping founders and finance teams see what was happening around the business as its estimated value changed.
What’s New in Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation®?
News Events add business and market context to the Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation® experience.
The new capability includes:
Company News Events
Keep relevant company developments connected to the point on your valuation timeline when they occurred.

Competitor News Events
Track competitor funding rounds, acquisitions, product launches, and other developments alongside your valuation to better understand the broader market context behind valuation movements.

Custom News Events
Record milestones, partnerships, expansion, and customer wins that never made a press release.

Valuation Chart
See events alongside movements in your valuation.

Context-Aware Valuation
Relevant company and market developments can provide additional information within the Real-Time Valuation process.

See What Was Happening When Your Valuation Changed
A valuation chart can tell you that an estimated value changed. It does not always tell you what was happening around the company at the same time.
News Events add that missing context.
For example, imagine a SaaS company whose estimated value increases during a period when it also announces a major customer win and expands into a new market. Those events give the finance team additional business context when reviewing the valuation timeline.
The same applies when the broader market changes. A competitor may announce a new product, raise funding, or get acquired. Those developments may be relevant when reviewing the company’s market position, even though they do not automatically mean the company’s valuation should move in the same direction.
This distinction matters. Competitor news provides context; it does not determine your company’s valuation.
Track Company News Alongside Your Valuation
Relevant company developments can now stay connected to the valuation timeline instead of being tracked separately.
News Events can help finance teams:
- Keep important company developments connected to valuation history.
- Reduce the need to track business events in separate places.
- Review company developments alongside valuation movements.
- Control which types of events appear on the valuation chart.
This can be particularly useful when reviewing valuation changes over several months. Instead of relying on memory or searching through old announcements, teams can review the business events associated with the timeline.
Add Competitor and Custom News Events for More Context
Your company’s story is only part of the picture.
Changes in the market can also matter when you are reviewing how your business is developing. Eqvista lets users select relevant competitors and bring their news into Real-Time Valuation.
Competitor events can include:
- Funding rounds
- Acquisitions
- Product launches
- Partnerships
- Major business announcements
You can also add custom News Events when something important happens inside the company but does not appear in external coverage.
Examples include:
- A major customer win
- A product launch
- A strategic partnership
- Expansion into a new market
- Another significant company milestone
This gives finance teams more control over the events included in their valuation timeline.
How Do News Events Add Context to Real-Time Valuation?
News Events are more than simple markers placed on a valuation chart. Relevant company and competitor developments can provide an additional source of information within the Real-Time Valuation process and, where applicable, contribute to valuation calculations. By displaying these events alongside valuation history, Eqvista also gives users more context for understanding what was happening around the business as its estimated value changed.
Users can control which event types appear on the chart, while competitor developments provide broader market context rather than automatically changing the company’s estimated value.
For companies monitoring their estimated value between formal valuation points, this creates a more informative timeline that brings together what changed, when it changed, and what was happening around the business at the time.
From a Valuation Number to a Valuation Timeline
Traditional valuations generally provide a value as of a particular date.
Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation® is designed differently. It helps companies monitor how their estimated value develops between formal valuation points.
News Events add another layer to that timeline:
Financial data + company developments + market context + valuation history
For founders and finance teams, this can make valuation reviews easier to understand. A number on its own tells you where the estimated value stands. A timeline with relevant business events can provide more context for how that number developed.
How News Events Fit Into Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation®
News Events are part of the broader Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation® experience, rather than a standalone news feed.
The platform brings together capabilities such as:
- Ongoing company valuation monitoring
- Company financial data
- QuickBooks integration
- Company and competitor News Events
- Valuation history and charts
- Downloadable reports
- Access through Eqvista’s equity management and valuation platform
This approach is useful for teams that want to monitor their estimated company value over time rather than rely only on individual valuation reports.
It also fits naturally into the broader equity management process, where valuation information may be reviewed alongside ownership, equity compensation, fundraising, and other company records.
Who Can Use News Events?
News Events are available within Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation® for eligible 409A account holders. Users with access can open Real-Time Valuation directly from their Eqvista dashboard to view company and competitor news, add custom events, and manage which events appear on their valuation timeline.
Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation® is designed to help companies monitor how their estimated value develops between formal valuation points and should not be considered a replacement for a formal 409A valuation or other valuation required for compliance purposes.

See More Than the Valuation Number
A valuation number tells you where your company stands. The story behind that number tells you much more.
Eqvista Real-Time Company Valuation® brings financial data, company developments, competitor activity, custom events, and valuation history into one place. Instead of checking your valuation and then piecing together what happened around the business, you can see the relevant context alongside the valuation timeline.
For founders and finance teams, that means a more connected way to monitor how company value develops between formal valuation points.
Go beyond the valuation number and understand the context behind how it changes.
