Employee Spotlight: Grace Dandan, Marketing Analyst At Eqvista

Hello everyone, on this edition of our employee spotlight series we’ve Grace Dandan who joined our team a couple of months back. She is currently working at Eqvista as an editor, assisting the marketing team in creating and publishing engaging content.

Hello Grace, it’s wonderful to have you in this blog interview. First of all congratulations for your new role and could you please share a brief about yourself?

Thank you for having me on the team! I previously worked in news writing and editorial before shifting my focus on marketing. Through the years, I have developed skills in content creation: photography, video production, graphic design, and writing for online content.

Please describe your path to your current role

I always worked in industries that have something to do with content creation. Whether I’m writing or editing articles, or filming videos and taking photos, I’m always creating content. Prior to working at Eqvista, I was working for an NGO. I wanted a shift in my career path and decided to go with marketing. Eqvista just happened to have an opening for a marketing editor and I went for it.

How did you hear about Eqvista? Why did you want to work here?

I actually heard about Eqvista through their LinkedIn job posting and learned more about the company from website. I decided to work at Eqvista because it was a place where I can grow together with the company. I’m always looking for opportunities to learn and to grow, and I found them at Eqvista.

Could you please share your current job responsibilities at Eqvista? 

I am a part of the marketing team and I am currently in charge of editing, proofreading and finalizing our articles before publishing them. I read a lot of articles daily, but I also help brainstorm new marketing strategies for the company. 

How did you get interested in marketing?

My previous work experiences were somehow always related to marketing, so I decided to make the change in my career and try out a real marketing role. Content creation is a big part of marketing, and I always found it interesting and enjoyable. 

What’s the most unique part about working at Eqvista?

Eqvista has a diverse team; it’s multicultural as most of us come from different countries, and it’s dynamic. The more that Eqvista grows, the more diverse we become. Despite the diversity, the team has a great synergy and we work great together. Also, Eqvista values learning – be it new skills or knowledge. We are always learning something new and we adapt to changes.

What are the toughest challenges you’ve had at work?

There are days when I have a hard time writing or proofreading articles. It’s what we call a ‘writer’s block’. When this happens, I usually get an energy drink or listen to music. It’s challenging because it slows me down and my to-do list gets even longer. I do my best to bounce back and get a steady pace to get my tasks done.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned at Eqvista?

One major thing I learned from Eqvista is the importance of being honest with myself and the team. By being honest with myself, I learned more about my strengths and limitations, and I can rely on my teammates to find solutions together when problems arise. Being at Eqvista has helped me see that I don’t have to do everything alone. 

Do you have any advice you’d like to share with someone who wants to join Eqvista? 

Never be afraid of change. At Eqvista, strategies can always change depending on the market. You always need to be prepared for any changes that can happen, and sometimes, the change could be because of you (which is a good thing!).
