Interview With Sam Moss, Co-Founder of Stocked

What inspired you to create Stocked, and how does the company aim to redefine convenience in meal preparation?
I was inspired by the way my mum used to cook for me when I was a baby – freezing my food into ice cube trays. I realized it was more flexible, versatile, and space efficient than other convenience options and addressed a big gap in the market for convenience and customisation!
Congratulations on securing $63,145 in funding! How do you leverage this investment to further innovate and expand Stocked’s offerings?
This funding is part of a larger round which will be used to grow our D2C business, expand our facility, and release a retail product
Stocked prides itself on providing flexible food options that cater to modern lifestyles. Can you elaborate on how your products meet consumers’ diverse needs?
We believe one-size-fits-all doesn’t fit anyone so by providing a flexible solution we allow our customers to eat what they want when they want.
Your packaging design emphasizes sustainability and efficiency. Could you share more about the development process behind your packaging?
Our packaging development has been an iterative process. We started off in cardboard boxes but have moved to recyclable plastic pouches as they maintain the quality of the food and stay just as space efficient when you use a couple of Blocks. Roll it up and tuck it away in the freezer. We’re proud that our packs contain twice as much food in half as much packaging as our plastic tray competitors.
Can you discuss any challenges you’ve encountered in developing and scaling Stocked and how you’ve overcome them?
Bringing a new format to market has definitely been a challenge so we’ve learnt a huge amount about who our customers are and why they find STOCKED useful. This has allowed us to improve how we tell our story and describe our Blocks!
Considering the nature of the takeaway business, how do you ensure the quality and freshness of the ingredients used in Stocked meals?
Our meals are frozen right after cooking so are fresher than refrigerated meals!
Can you share any success stories or testimonials from customers who have integrated Stocked products into their routines?
A good testimonial is:”If like me you struggle with portion control and eating healthy during the week when working and juggling kids, chores etc these are brilliant. Just pull them out of the freezer, into the microwave and then onto your plate. You can’t go wrong. No more Tuesday night takeaways because you don’t want to cook or haven’t bought enough food to last the week. They pair great with jacket potatoes, Rice, Pasta etc thoroughly recommend”

What are your long-term aspirations for Stocked, and how do you envision the company evolving in the years ahead?
We see our Blocks in every freezer in the UK in some shape or form so look forward to growing our product range to make them more accessible in terms of product and distribution.
