How To Add Fair Market Value Or FMV?

The fair market value is the current value of the company’s share. It gives you an idea of what a specific stock would be worth in the open market. The FMV of your company’s shares is calculated using 409A valuation performed by a professional expert like Eqvista. Check out our support guide to learn how to request 409A valuation on Eqvista. 

Note: the FMV of a company’s 409a valuation is applicable for 12 months after the valuation date unless there is a significant material event.

Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Log into your Eqvista account and select the company account to add fair market value. 

From the dashboard, click on “Valuation” on the left-hand side to get a drop-down menu and select “409A Valuation” or click on “Manage Fair Market Value (FMV)”. 

Step 2: Once you do this, you will be redirected to the next page, where you can add fair market value by clicking on “Add Fair Market Value (FMV)”.

Step 3: You begin by selecting the source and filling in the fields with details about total valuation, effective date, and fair market value. Then, select share FMV with shareholders, and you have the option to upload a file by clicking on “Select File”.

Note: The fair market value can be shared with shareholders who are given shareholder access by selecting share FMV with shareholders. To further understand about sharing fair market value, check out our support article.

After entering the details, click “Submit”.
