How To Add Fair Market Value Or FMV?

The fair market value is the current value of the company’s share. It gives you an idea of what a specific stock would be worth in the open market. The FMV of your company’s shares is calculated using 409A valuation performed by a professional expert like Eqvista. Check out our support guide to learn how to request 409A valuation on Eqvista. 

Note: the FMV of a company’s 409a valuation is applicable for 12 months after the valuation date unless there is a significant material event. 

The best thing about Eqvista is that you can add fair market value. It also keeps all your records and previous valuation results to help you keep track of your company’s growth. Not sure how to do it?

Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Log into your Eqvista account and select the company account to add fair market value. 

From the dashboard, click on “409A Valuation” on the left-hand side of the menu. 

Step 2: Once you do this, you will be redirected to the following page. 

Here, click on “Manage Fair Market Value (FMV)” on the right-hand side of the page.  

Step 3: Once you do this, you will be redirected to the next page where you can add fair market value. You begin by selecting the source and valuation date from the drop-down menu and filling in the fields with details about total valuation and share price. Then, select the box to share the FMV with shareholders. 

Note: The fair market value can be shared with shareholders who are given shareholder access by selecting share FMV with shareholders. To further understand about sharing fair market value, check out our support article.

After entering the details, click “Save“.
