Here are the steps on how you can do it on Eqvista.
Step 1: You would have to add a shareholder first after you have created your company. For this, you can check the support article – How do I add a shareholder to the cap table?
Once you have added the shareholder to your cap table, you can now issue the shares to the shareholder easily using the same details you have on the paper certificate already issued.
From the main dashboard, click on “Cap table” and then one “details”. You would be directed to the cap table page where you would see a button named “issue” on the upper right hand side. Click on that and then on “from shares”.
Step 2: You would be directed to the following page after you click on “Issue” from where you can then issue the shares to the shareholder. On this page, you first need to select the “Equity name” and then click on “Add a shareholder” to issue the shares from the equity group to the selected shareholder.
Step 3: Once you click on “Add a shareholder”, a page would open below where you would be able to issue the shares to the shareholder you choose. For this, you would first have to select the shareholder name from the drop down list.
In the form, you can easily fill in the details as it is on the paper certificate. In short, you can add the date of issuance as it is, number of shares issued, price per share of when it was issued, share name (certificate number) and vesting schedule, if any. Do not forget to put the right certificate number and select the right equity class to issue the shares from. Ensure that all the details are the same as it is on the paper certificate.
Step 4: Once you are done with this, click on “Submit”. You would reach the next page as shown below, and by clicking on the shareholder’s name, you would be taken to the page that shows all the details of the shareholder.
Step 5: When you click on the name of the shareholder, you would reach the following page. Here, you can view the electronic certificate or even download and print the paper one. It would be just like the paper certificate that you issued initially for the person.
