But before we can talk about how to extract the secondary transactions report on Eqvista, let us understand what the secondary transaction report is about and what you will get in it.
What is a Secondary Transaction Report?
The Secondary Transactions Report includes all the secondary transactions (transactions after issuance) of the company. In short, this report would have all the details of the exercises, transfers, repurchases, conversions, and cancellations. This is an important report to help you make the next decisions in the company, including the exit decisions and the IPO decisions.
Create Secondary Transaction Reports on Eqvista
Obtaining a secondary transactions report on Eqvista is quite easy. Here is a step-by-step process to get it:
Step 1: Log into the app, select your company profile and when you get to the dashboard, and click on “Reports” from the left-side menu to reach the following page.
You will see the option of three reports that you can select from. The last report that you can get from here is the “Secondary transaction report”. Click on the last report, and you will get the following message and the option to download it.

The description of the report comes up as well which says, “This is Secondary Transactions Report includes all the secondary transactions (transactions after issuance) of the company.” It also lets you know what details would be in the report.
The report holds the following details:
- Exercises
- Transfers
- Repurchases
- Conversions
- Cancellations
To download this cap table, click on the “Generate report” button.
Step 2: By clicking on this button, the report would be downloaded in Excel format. And you will be able to see it at the bottom of your browser (if it is Chrome).

Step 3: When you click on the report downloaded from the browser (or from the download folder on your computer), the document will open. This is what you will see as it opens.

When you open the report, it would have six sheets with details on all the different kinds of secondary transactions.
The first sheet is just like a cover where it tells you what the report is about and what you will find in it, with the company name.
Step 4: To view the next page, click on the next sheet name, which is “Exercises” here.

When you do this, you will go to the next page. Here, you will be able to see all the details of the exercises that have taken place in the company. When options are converted to equity, we say that the options are exercised and that is what you will see here.

You will see the details of all the exercises here. The details would include the shareholder who has had their option exercised, the security in which the shares are now, the grant name, the number of shares, the price per share, the capital, and the exercise date.
Step 5: The next sheet shows all the transfers that have taken place in the company. To view this, click on “Transfers” at the bottom of the sheet.

When you do this, you will be taken to the next sheet as shown below.

Here you can see all the share transfer details of the company. The information would include the grant name, the shareholder, the number of shares, the price of the shares, the capital committed, and the transfer date of the shares.
Step 6: The next sheet would show the repurchases that have taken place in the company. For this, you need to click on the “Repurchases” tab at the bottom of the sheet.

When you do this, you will reach the following sheet.

Here you will see all the repurchase details in the company. The information in this sheet would include the grant name, shareholder name, security name, number of shares, price per share, capital committed, and the repurchase date.
Step 7: The next sheet includes all the conversions in the company. Conversions here are when the debt securities are converted to equity.

When you do this, you will reach the following sheet.

Here you will be able to see the details of the conversions including the shareholder name, note name, grant name that it was converted to, number of shares it converted to, effective price at the time of conversion, capital committed, and the conversion date.
Step 8: And the last sheet of this excel report would show you all the “cancellations” made in the company. To view this, click on the “Cancellation” tab at the bottom of the sheet as highlighted above.

When you do this, you will reach the following sheet.

Here you will see all the information about the cancellations that have taken place in the company. The details would include the name of the shareholder, the security, grant name, number of shares, price per share, capital committed, and the cancellation date.
In short, the secondary transactions report will give you a detailed overview of all the secondary transactions in the company as shown in the example above.
